At Millie’s, good seafood and drinks bring the beach to D.C.
Washington Post restaurant critic Tom Sietsema visits restaurateur Bo Blair and chef David Scribner’s new Nantucket-themed addition to Spring Valley and grants Millie’s 2.5 stars (“good/excellent”).
Like its sister restaurant, the menu here has plenty of recognizably New England influences, but the Spring Valley outpost adds a little mid-Atlantic flair. Nestled on the outskirts of the District near American University, Millie’s is a spacious, dog-friendly patio, full of picnic tables with shady umbrellas.
Restaurant channels New England vibe, Southern California cooking
Expect nautical, beachy vibes and a full menu of tacos, salads, po’boys, and more. It’s another slice of New England in D.C.
Nantucket – plane ticket + Spring Valley + lobster quesadillas + chowder + Narragansett Tallboys + outdoor dining = Millie’s
If you live or work in Spring Valley, Millie’s is exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
Millie’s is the ideal addition to this family filled neighborhood which also houses the American University Law School across the street. The restaurant pays homage to the stress-free, beachy Nantucket vibe and its menu is fresh California baja-style. There’s plenty of room on the patio and, after dinner, kids will LOVE going to the ice cream window and getting their fave Gifford’s flavor with fun toppings.
